'Staying Alive' Extra Credit

Due the last Monday of Classes by midnight!

Students may earn up to 35 points for reading the entire 'Staying Alive: The Varieties of Immortality' text and submitting a detailed, thoughtful review.

The details: Read a book review (or two) from a national website, such as the New York Times. Write your own book review which details your own thoughts about death, love, fame, creativity, spirituality, biological immortality, and merging with the enduring. Craft a document, which critiques the claims made in each chapter of 'Staying Alive' and justifies your own points of view.

Your paper will be graded according to: 1) your understanding of the full text, 2) the reasoned expression of your own positions, 3) the connections you make between the text's ideas and your ideas.
