Academic Support Services for Students
Academic Success Center (ASC)
The ASC is located on the main floor inside the Library near the whiteboard wall. The ASC provides academic support services and strategies for success for all enrolled students at all levels of learning (freshman through senior). Our services assist students in achieving academic success, gaining scholastic independence, improving self-esteem, and preparing for graduate study. Students who want to make the most of their university experience take advantage of academic support services. Information about the ASC can be found at https://www.lssu.edu/academic-services/academic-success-center/.
Testing Services
Testing Services is located on the main floor of the Library, Room 251. Information about the Testing Services can be found at https://www.lssu.edu/academic-services/testing-services/. FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), also known as the "Buckley Amendment”, is a federal law which provides that Colleges and Universities will maintain the confidentiality of student educational records. The law basically states that no one outside the University shall have access to students' educational records nor will the University disclose any information from those records without the written consent of students. There are exceptions, such as allowing certain personnel within the University with a legitimate educational interest to see the records, or releasing the records in an emergency in order to protect the health or safety of students or other persons. If you'd like to know more about our FERPA-related policies, please visit http://www.lssu.edu/registrar/FERPA.
